Movement has always played a foundational role in Julianne’s life. At an early age she enjoyed many sports taking to ski-ing and squash where she competed throughout the junior levels.
She’s always been fascinated by human biology and had a keen interest on health and performance of the body in day to day life. Her interest for Physiotherapy was born from this interest combined with spending time being treated on the physio bed herself secondary to her sporting endeavours.
Julianne completed a BSc in Physiotherapy where she graduated with first class honours. In 2013 Julianne started her first role in the NHS at Trafford General Hospital where she met and worked alongside Sophie in two different teams. From here she continued her rotational role within Manchester Royal Infirmary working in a variety of areas including neurological, respiratory and musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
Feeling drawn to pursue her love of Squash, Julianne left the NHS and pursued a professional squash career at the age of 24. This involved playing on the PSA World Tour reaching a career high ranking of 28 in the world and representing England at senior level, all while working part time at a Physiotherapy private practice. She has recently retired from professional sport and is now focussing on her MSK speciality.
Julianne’s goal for Move & Heal is for it to provide quality, holistic sessions that can be accessed by a variety of communities, promoting movement and healthy lifestyle choices to benefit overall wellbeing.
Sophie’s interest in healthcare also began with a BSc degree in Psychology followed by a MSc degree in Occupational Therapy. She’s gained over 10 years experience working for the NHS and whilst working in Australia she became a clinical specialist in Chronic Pain.
Following a bereavement and work related stress Sophie discovered Yoga/ Meditation & Reiki as reliable tools to understand and manage the symptoms she was experiencing.
Sophie feels her journey has been one from science to spirituality and she enjoys teaching from an evidence-based perspective with the infusion of traditional Yogic philosophy.
Sophie trained in Vinyasa, Yin, Astanga and Hatha Yoga and is qualified in Yoga Therapy. Her therapeutic classes incorporate variations and invitations which empower you to rest, restore and revitalise through the lens of self-compassion and awareness.
Sophie's goal in establishing this company is to offer free and cost-effective sessions which are person centred, holistic and not routinely available in our community.
