Anne, Diane and Wendy successfully lead the coffee mornings at Woodhouses Cricket Club and all act as Community Client Representatives for Move & Heal CIC.
Up to 50 elderly residents attend every week and there is always laughter in the air.
"Anne and I came up with idea of idea of a coffee and chat group following the pandemic, as we knew many older members of our community hadn't been out of their house since and felt lonely as a result"- Diane.
"We've all got aches and pains and sit down Yoga helps us to learn about our conditions. It makes us feel better"- Anne.
Katie runs the coffee mornings at First Choice Homes' Community Room on Ridegfield Street and is a Community Client Representative for Move & Heal CIC.
Katie loves bringing people together on a Tuesday morning to socialise and catch up about people's week. About the Chair Yoga, Katie says, "I do have pain management at the hospital and I have told them about what I do on a Tuesday, and they've said it's fantastic and it's really helped with the pain because I'm now reducing my pain killers".
Ian is the Vice Treasurer and key holder at Springbank Bowling Club, where he keeps the doors open (and battles to keep the heating on!) for the local community. A true example of being community-led, Ian makes sure everyone feels welcome— whether they’re there for bowling, a brew, or a good stretch at the Thursday morning Chair Yoga class.
When asked about the sessions, Ian laughs, “I've seen people come in here and talk more to the Teacher than they've ever spoke to me! I usually only get 2 words out of them. We've wanted something like this where people come in and use the Club for good”
